Plagiarism
Hey, y'all. There's been a recent plagiarism scandal in one of my fandoms. So I thought I'd say a little something on the subject.
Plagiarism is mean, don't do it.
And as of now, I'm taking on the policy of csi-forensics.com, a fanfiction archive. If plagiarism is brought to my attention and proven to my satisfaction, the stories will be removed, the author account deleted. And it will be publicly announced on the site.
I really don't see this being a problem anytime soon, especially with the creative, original authors we have on the site now. I just want to make sure there's some kind of rule in place in case somehting should ever arise. I'll find a place to post the rule somewhere on the site, so future members know. Alrighty then, that's all for today. --juneprota on May 09 2006 - 02:21PM

hear hear!
Umm... I was going to ask if we could use terms, world, rules, ect if the original author gives us permision, but that wouldn't make it original, would it?

I would think that's fine, as it's essentially the "sandbox" principle of open series, so long as the story itself is original. Then again, that borders on fanfiction. Not to mention, I don't have final say, but that's my two cents.

I was thinking it bordered on fanfiction a little bit, but if we're all writing in the nonfictional world isn't it all fanfiction? (doesn't write in it because she's not a fan ;D hehe)

Yo, I'm kinda agreeing with cauchemear here. Although I have the final say. If you have explicit permission from the original author, then you can do what you like. There are a couple of authors on this site that allow people to use their characters, worlds, etc. So yeah, as long as you have permission and you give credit where credit is due, that's cool. If the original author complains about it, then the story will be removed.
